Serving the Community
Our youth work to gain community service and obtain life skills by working with community members. Community agencies can reach out to China Spring Youth Camp to request assistance with miscellaneous tasks. Some of our work details include:

Project Santa
Project Santa is our opportunity to give back at Christmas Time. The Kiwanis club brings broken bikes into camp. Our residents fix the bikes up so they are ready by Christmas. Kiwanis has an annual event where the resident’s donate the bikes to community members in need. Golf Tournament
Join us for the China Spring Sandbaggers Golf Tournament, a bi-annual event held at the beautiful Edgewood Golf Course in Lake Tahoe. This 4-person scramble includes a cart, range balls, lunch, and one hosted drink. All proceeds benefit the China Spring Youth Camp, which provides a safe and supportive environment for at-risk youth.
In addition to the camaraderie and competition, there are also great prizes up for grabs, including a hole in one prize courtesy of the Carson Valley Inn and a closest to the hole prize of 4 rounds of golf at Edgewood.

Greenhouse and Annual Plant Sale
The Greenhouse is the first phase of our annual Plant Sale. The residents submit applications to participate in this project. This gives them real world experience in filling out a job application. The residents are chosen based on desire and progress in their program. The residents are involved daily and do everything from prepping the greenhouse, planting the seeds, watering the plants to participating in the final phase of selling the plants to China Spring Youth Camp employees and the Community.
The Annual Plant Sale is the second phase. We have the plant sale from May until the end of the season in September. The male and female residents participate. This project gives the residents a sense of responsibility and pride. They are able to see the progress of the planting, from seed to full grown flower or food product. The residents enjoy discussing their purposeful hard work and success of completion in this project when selling to the community at the weekly Farmer’s Market. They obtain money handling experience and a vocational skill.
Pallet Project
The Pallet Project is China Springs newest adventure. The purpose of the project is to give the residents a vocational skill and hands on experience in our vocational building. The residents submit a job application and an essay explaining why they want to participate and what they would like to get out of participating. They are chosen based on desire and progress in their program. This project allows the chosen residents the chance to be creative and artistic. They create everything from bird houses to furniture. They work on the projects in the winter to sale in the Summer of the following year. The items are sold from May to September. The residents demonstrate to the community the skills they have developed.
